Welcome back to Courageous Alignment Podcast, the space where we stop performing our way through life and come back to the truth that has been waiting inside us. I'm your host, Cher, and today's conversation is tender, powerful, and necessary because deep connection is not a luxury. It's a medicine. It's leadership. It's a nervous system healing. It is the brave choice to be seen without abandoning yourself. So before we dive into today's episode, I want to share something that feels beautifully aligned with the conversation we are about to have. I had the honor of having a fun, inspiring conversation with Jules and Torsten at Making Money Making Friends podcast last week about what it really means to reinvent yourself, trust your intuition, and have the courage to create a life that truly feels aligned with who you are. We talked about my journey from healthcare executive to multidimensional coach and speaker and how courageous alignment became the bridge between practical leadership, inner healing, intuitive wisdom, and soul level transformation. We simply scratched the surface, and I literally mean just a scratch, because this topic is very deep. We also talked about the way I now blend astrology, hypnotherapy, the energy work, meditation, and grounded leadership practices to help people find more clarity, confidence, purpose, and alignment in the next chapter of their lives. And if you've been feeling like it's time for a reset, a new chapter, or simply a deeper connection with yourself, I want you to know this conversation, this work, and this episode are for you. This is also why I'm excited to invite you into the Moonlight and Medicine retreat happening September 24th through the 27th. You can learn more and register at www.courageousalignment3.com by clicking on retreats. Have you noticed that so many people are starving for connection? Not surface-level connection, not the kind that looks good on Instagram or on any social media for that matter, but the kind that feels like medicine, the kind that makes you breathe deeper, the kind that makes you remember who you are, the kind that makes you soften in a place you didn't know you were tense. So today we're gonna go there. This episode is about deep connection with self and others, the kind that changes your life, your relationships, the way you lead your body, your energy, your future. Deep connection is not just a feeling between people. It is a full system experience, psychological, somatic, energetic, relational, and spiritual. It asks us to understand our attachment patterns, listen to the body, honor the unseen intelligence of timing, intuition, and choose presence over protection. Today, we're not only talking about connection as something beautiful, we're talking about connection as a path of becoming. So as you listen today, I want you to notice something in your own body. Where do you open? Where do you contract? Where do you feel the ache of wanting more depth? And where have you convinced yourself that surface level connection is enough because deeper connection feels too risky? We live in a world where connection is everywhere, and yet somehow we feel more alone than ever. We have endless communication, constant access, perpetual stimulation, infinite distraction, but very little presence. You can be sitting next to someone you love and still feel miles away. You can answer every text, attend every meeting, show up for every obligation and still feel unseen. You can be known by many people and still feel unknown in places that matter most. That is the loneliness we do not always name. The ache of being surrounded but not truly met. And presence is the foundation of connection. Most people aren't disconnected because they don't care. They're disconnected because they're overwhelmed. Their nervous system is overloaded, their emotional bandwidth is depleted, and their inner world is cluttered with unprocessed stories, expectations, and inherited patterns. Deep connection requires capacity, and capacity requires self-connection. You cannot connect deeply with others if you are disconnected from yourself. Not because you're broken or because your body will keep protecting you from the very intimacy your soul is asking for. Self-connection is how you teach your system that truth is safe, that desire is safe, softness is safe. And being fully seen does not have to mean being fully exposed. So let's start there. From a psychological lens, connection begins with the nervous system. If the body is living in protection, the heart cannot fully open. If the mind is scanning for rejection, the soul cannot fully receive. Many of us learned connection through attachment wounds, earning love, performing for approval, caretaking to feel safe, disappearing to avoid conflict or overgiving so we wouldn't be abandoned. So self-connection becomes the place where we stop repeating the old pattern and begin creating a new internal home. Self-connection is not self-care. It's not bubble baths, journaling or morning routine, although those can support it. Self-connection is the ability to hear your inner voice, to feel your emotional truth, regulate your nervous system, honor your boundaries, trust your intuition, and stay present with yourself even when it's uncomfortable. It's the courage to sit with your own discomfort without abandoning yourself. It's the willingness to tell the truth, especially the truth you've been softening. It's the practice of choosing alignment over approval. And here's the multidimensional piece. When you connect deeply with yourself, you become a tuning fork. Your energy shifts, your presence shifts, your relationship shifts, your leadership style shifts, creativity shifts, and you become a magnet and align with those that exude the same energy. People feel you different because connection is not something you do. Connection is something you are. Astrologically, connection also has timing, rhythm, and archetype. The moon speaks to our emotional body and our need for safety. Venus speaks to attachment, desire, beauty, worth, and the way we receive. Chiron speaks to the wound that becomes medicine when it's witnessed with compassion. And the North Node reminds us that some connections are not here to keep us comfortable. They are here to pull us toward growth. When we bring astrology into connection, we are not handing our power away to the stars. We are listening to symbolic language that helps us understand the patterns our psyche and spirit are already trying to reveal. There are three layers of deep connection, and most people only ever experience the first. The first layer being emotional connection. This is where relationships live. It's shared feelings, experiences, shared stories. It's beautiful, but it's not the deepest layer. Layer two would be energetic connection. This is where renaissance happens. Where your nervous system syncs with another person, where your intuition picks up the subtle cues, where you feel someone's truth before they speak it. This is the layer where healing begins to happen.

And the third layer is soul-level connection.

SPEAKER_01

This is rare, but boy, is it sacred. This is a kind of connection that feels like recognition. It's the moment you meet someone and your whole body says, I know you. It's the kind of connection that rearranges you. And it's the kind of connection we explore. It's the kind of connection we're going to be exploring in moonlight and medicine, the Chiron retreat for so-level renewal in September. Because when you access this layer, you stop relating from your wounds and start relating from your wholeness.

SPEAKER_00

And that, my friends, is a game changer. It changes everything. Why do so many of us fear deep connection?

SPEAKER_01

Deep connection is so beautiful, but can also be terrifying. Because to be deeply connected, you must be deeply seen. And being seen requires vulnerability. Most people fear connection because they fear rejection, abandonment, judgment, disappointment, losing themselves, losing control, being misunderstood, being too much or not enough. But here's the truth connection does not hurt us. Disconnection inside connection is what hurts us. When you abandon yourself to stay connected to someone else, you create internal conflict. And when you silence your truth to maintain harmony, you naturally create resentment. When you shrink to be accepted, you create self-betrayal.

SPEAKER_00

Deep connection requires self-honoring. And self-honoring is a practice.

SPEAKER_01

And then of course, there is the shadow layer, the part of us that says, I want to be seen, but only if you see the version of me I can control. I want intimacy, but not if it exposes my needs. I want connection, but not if it asks me to release the identity I built to survive. This is where deep connection becomes initiation. It invites the protective self to soften, but not disappear. It asks the wounded self to be heard, not hidden. And it reminds us that the parts we have exiled are often the very parts holding our greatest medicine.

SPEAKER_00

What part of you is waiting for your attention? When you connect deeply with yourself, your relationships shift in three ways.

SPEAKER_01

You stop needing people to validate you. You show up from fullness, not emptiness. You communicate with clarity instead of fear. Your boundaries become clean. Your truth becomes accessible, and your presence becomes safe. You attract people who meet you where you are. Because connection is resonance, and resonance is energetic. When you are aligned, you attract aligned relationships. When you are regulated, you attract regulated relationships. When you are emotionally honest, you attract emotional honesty. This is why connection is medicine. And if this episode is speaking to you, if your body is saying yes, if your soul is craving depth, clarity, connection, emotional expansion, and a space where you do not have to perform your healing, then moonlight and medicine, the courageous alignment retreat is for you. It's a space where you reconnect with yourself so deeply that your relationships, your leadership, your creativity, your energy, all of it shifts. Jules and Torsten felt it when we talked about it on making money, making friends. And if you're listening right now, I think you feel it too. And before we close, ask yourself one honest question. What is one place in my life where I am calling it connection, but abandoning myself to keep it? Let that question stay with you. Not as a judgment, as a liberation. Connection is not something you chase. Connection is something you cultivate. It begins with you, it expands to others and becomes a frequency you carry. And when you carry that frequency, your life changes. Thank you for being here. Thank you for choosing depth. Thank you for choosing alignment. And thank you for choosing yourself. Until next time, stay courageous, stay awake, stay aligned. And remember, you do not have to chase connection. You become the frequency of it when you stop leaving yourself.
